The ninth through twelfth grade AVID course is an elective class for students who are college bound. Students learn strategies to enhance success in their college prep courses. To ensure success in course work, students work individually, as well as in tutor-led groups. Note taking, outlining, writing, organization, speaking, reading, test-taking strategies, and self-awareness are stressed. In addition, the course includes college motivational activities, college and career awareness information. To be accepted to the course students must complete the application process. The AVID program is looking at students who have a minimum 2.0 GPA; are highly motivated, and have a positive attitude. There is an application process and those interested should inquire during course request period.
